ChatGPT usage is growing rapidly in India, but OpenAI is lagging behind in earnings
In the last few years, many US tech companies have expanded keeping in mind the internet users of India. Now the artificial intelligence company OpenAI is also on the same path. The company says that the use of ChatGPT is growing very fast in India and it has become its fastest growing market.
But according to a report, OpenAI is not earning much from India. According to SensorTower, an analytics firm, people in India have spent only $ 8 million (about Rs 66 crore) on paid subscription of ChatGPT since 2023. At the same time, users in America have spent $ 330 million (about Rs 2700 crore). It is clear from the data that America has spent a lot in numbers
One big reason for this is the price of ChatGPT Plus in India. Here even its cheapest plan is $20 i.e. about Rs 1,700 per month, which is considered expensive for most people. OpenAI has not given any cheap or local pricing for India, which is affecting the earnings.
However, the company is confident that India can become a big part of its growth in the future. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently said that he wants to make OpenAI a “multi-billion user platform”. There are 950 million (95 crore) internet users in India, who can help us achieve this goal.
The news is that OpenAI is preparing to partner with Reliance Jio, one of India’s largest mobile companies. This will enable ChatGPT to reach more people.
At present, the free version of ChatGPT is becoming very popular in India and people are using it for studies, work and everyday needs.
