OpenAI can buy Jony Ive and Sam Altman’s new AI startup
OpenAI, which is a world-renowned AI company, is considering buying a new hardware startup company. This startup is being created by Apple’s former design head Jony Ive and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The name of this company is io Products. According to a report, OpenAI can buy this company for around $500 million.
After leaving Apple, Jony Ive started his design firm LoveFrom. He admitted in an interview last year that he is working on an AI hardware project with Sam Altman. According to reports, io Products has also received good funding from Laurene Powell Jobs’ Emerson Collective and other investors.
However, instead of buying this company, OpenAI can also partner with it. Right now this company is working with a small team, which also includes former Apple designers Tang Tan and Evans Hankey. This team is working on AI devices that can be used in products like smart home devices. According to The New York Times, the startup aims to create products that are less socially disruptive than the iPhone.
