Don’t Miss It: How to Watch Meta’s First-Ever AI Developer Event – LlamaCon
Technology company Meta on Tuesday launched its first AI developer event ‘LlamaCon’. The event focuses specifically on Meta’s Llama series of open AI models. During this time many big updates are expected for developers. The event also includes speeches from Meta’s top officials and in-depth discussions with tech industry veterans.
The event is organized at Meta headquarters in Menlo Park, California, where a limited number of developers and journalists have been invited. Along with this, people from all over the world can watch this event live on the Facebook page of Meta for Developers and the Meta Developers YouTube channel.
The event started at 10:15 am (Pacific Time) with keynote addresses by Meta Chief Product Officer Chris Cox, AI Vice President Manohar Paluri and Generative AI Research Scientist Angela Fan. After this, at 10:45, there was a fireside chat between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Databricks co-founder and CEO Ali Ghodsi, in which open source AI and AI based applications were discussed.
Another important conversation took place at 4 pm, in which Zuckerberg and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella together gave their opinion on the current direction of AI and future prospects for developers. This conversation is being described as special for the AI industry.
This event is considered very important for Meta because recently the company launched a new AI model called Llama 4, which did not get a good response from the developers. This model was said to be behind the models of companies like OpenAI, Google, Anthropic in many cases.
Not only this, Meta was also accused of cheating in an AI benchmark test (LM Arena), where the company achieved a high score using a special Maverick model, while a different version was released publicly.
Now through ‘LlamaCon’ Meta is trying to win back the trust of developers. It remains to be seen how successful the company is through this event.
